Procrastometer Baseline
Posted on 11 Dec 2002 in Daily
I realised the way I was calculating my study, work, socialising and exercise scores was incorrect. What I really needed to do was establish realistic baselines for each category within the 84 effective hours and then graph against that. This also means that individual graphs can exceed 100% indicating too much in a particular area, optimum time utilisation should have all blue and green graphs at 100% and the red procrastination graph at 0%. So here are the reworked formulas:
KEY:
prc = procrastination
std = study (40 hours per week)
wrk = work (22 hours per week)
scl = socialising (16 hours per week)
exc = exercise (6 hours per week)
Formulas:
prc = 100 - (((wrkhr + stdhr + exchr + sclhr) / 84) * 100)
std = ((stdhr) / 40) * 100
wrk = ((wrkhr) / 22) * 100
scl = ((sclhr) / 16) * 100
exc = ((exchr) / 6) * 100
Procrastination includes development on my personal web site, watching movies and DVDs, surfing the net, playing games, napping during the day etc. Study includes both uni and career related. Work is paid work in whatever field. Socialising includes catching up with friends and going out. Exercise includes jogging and the gym.
