Stickman fighting animation

I meant to post a link to this Flash stickman fighting animation a few days ago when I came across it on the Speedle Top 10 list. It's so 96 hours ago now of course, having been posted on at least 3,752 weblogs by now. So I post a link here just in case the only blog you read is mine. The animation itself is cool, simple concept, great sound. Nice work by the author, who mind you has also done two other stickman animations, if you look at the site itself..

Moo Moo is just great, you choose a style, Hip Hop, Metal or Disco and then mix a dance routine with effects and vocals for a dancing cow. It's all done in Shockwave 8, definitely worth wasting fifteen minutes of your work day on.

Retroscope is the personal site of one of the Designers working here at Com Tech Online. The guy is a Flash genius, very impressive stuff. Make sure you checkout the message board and photolib. He has also built distorter, an animated model builder in Flash that's enjoying quite a bit of attention in the Flash/Design community at the moment.

Flash Usability Challenge: Aftermath

Posted on 22. Sep, 2000

The Flash Usability Challenge is over, for those of you who weren't following it, John Rhodes of WebWord.com was running a challenge for readers to submit what they considered highly-usable Flash based e-commerce web sites, an important selection criteria for Rhodes aside from usability, was that they were profitable, under his assumption that 'usability is directly related to financial performance'.

The winner was a UK web site called Ted Baker Online, a site we can't actually see anymore as they just took it down for maintenance! Anyway the three-page Flash Usability Challenge Aftermath summary is an interesting read with a number of quotes submitted by people during the course of the challenge and Rhode's personal conclusions about Flash as a tool for e-commerce sites and the divide between designers and usability experts. Highly recommended.

Interesting navigation on this flash site, it uses the keyboard rather than the mouse. How retro. [via dack.com]
